Selhurst, SE25
Selhurst is a place in the London Borough of Croydon. It is a suburban development 7.8 miles (12.5 km) south-south-east of Charing Cross.
Selhurst doesn't cover a large area of Croydon and is often credited as South Norwood, its much bigger counterpart. Although many people not in the local area would know where Selhurst is, it does hold a nationwide known school called The BRIT School. The BRIT School is a performing arts school operated by The BRIT foundation, more commonly known for bringing us the BRIT Awards.
Selhurst is named after the Anglo Saxon for "dwelling in a wood". Evidence of a Saxon settlement was found when the railways station was built. Later, the land was owned by Henry VIII.
Heavers Meadow is a meadow opposite the train station on the other side of the road. It covers an area of 8 3/4 acres 3.34 hectares. Of course by the name you can guess that it's a meadow, and with meadows there aren't usually many facilities. Heavers is no exception, the only Facility stated on the councils website is a Footpath through a flood meadow. On the other side is Tennison Road.
